The Bowling Green Firefighter’s Association and Bowling Green Fire Department are proud to introduce the First Annual Bowling Green Fire Department Chief 1 Edition 2022 C8 Corvette! This beautiful vehicle has been a dream of the BGFD for years! Built here in our great city of Bowling Green, this iconic car is an honor to have in our fleet since our department currently provides fire, rescue, and EMS services for the GM Assembly Plant and National Corvette Museum. The Chief 1 Corvette has been in service since April 2022 for various public relations events.

Our wish for the BGFD to have a Corvette would not have come true without the help of many individuals! After a very long and tiring search for an opportunity to purchase this dream car, Mike Furman of Corvettefurman.com heard our story and immediately helped us in locating an allocation. The Mingus family was also an integral part of making this dream a reality. Mason Mingus, of Team Construction, has played a huge role in helping the Bowling Green Firefighter’s Association fundraise to assist our community. He and his family secured us the funds to purchase the car! Additionally, Chet Baigh, of Aerolarri, donated a set of gold Hurricane Wheels etched with “BGFD” to make our custom car even more special!

“At General Motors, we often talk about the importance of community. Our Bowling Green Assembly plant family inBowling Green, Ky. experienced this firsthand last December
when the entire community was hit by an EF3 tornado. Our plant was hit directly, dislodging an HVAC unit on the roof which caused a fire to break out. Bowling Green firefighters quickly came to the rescue and worked on the roof to ensure that the plant suffered the least amount of damage possible. As a thank you for their quick response and hard work directly
after the tornado, the Bowling Green Assembly team was able to expedite a Torch Red C8 Corvette Coupe order for the Fire Department and deliver it earlier than expected. Thank you to Sharon Brawner and the team at the National Corvette Museum, and Plant Director Kai Spande and the Bowling Green Assembly team for their help in facilitating this delivery
and celebration of the Bowling Green Fire Department’s hard work. With some special effort, the Bowling Green Assembly team even made the last three digits of the VIN “9-1-1”.
Throughout this year, the Bowling Green Firefighters Association will lease the Corvette to the city for only $1, so it can be used for school prevention classes, parades, and special events, before being raffled off to provide funds to the
nonprofit Bowling Green Firefighters Association.”

-Gerald Johnson, General Motors Executive Vice President, Global Manufacturing and Sustainability
